Julia, that is exactly what opened my eyes. I was reading books on the FLDS, Mormons, Scientologists, Amish and North Korea. So much of it made me think the JW's were just as bad in many ways and once I read those I started searching on Amazon for books about the witnesses. I read a couple of books and then found C of C. After reading that I started to go on line and found all of the different sites and that really answered all of my questions.

had another conversation with my wife this morning
by Crazyguy inshe was getting already for service so i asked her "how do you do it?
" "how do you still go and do all this spiritual stuff now that you know that my research and letter to bethel shows that the jw religion denies us the messiah"?
she got all defensive and disagreed again with what i wrote to bethel and then i had to step in and tell her that its "its them that teaches that we don't have a mediator in christ and were not under the new covenant".

My story so far
by brainmelt ini've been trying to avoid posting this, due to extreme paranoia but its time to post my story.
i hope to not post too many details, as we've avoided being df so far, our group elder was young and lovely and cool and i just hope that in time he learns the ttatt.. i'm a regular lurker on here, occasional poster (i can't post much as my phone browser only lets me read but not post, so i only post on the odd occasion i get a time alone on the pc).
i have been fading since round about last september ( so almost my first anniversary of learning ttatt).

Hi Brainmelt, I am sorry to hear your son is going through cancer and treatment, I hope everything goes well for him. I too found out I had it a few months after we faded so I know how trying it is to deal with both at one time. I am gld your husband came out with you, mine did too. I am glad your children are young and now you can enjoy all of the fun celebrations with them and they can have a happy life not under the control of the GB. Hang in there and keep us informed on how he is doing.

Going to a meeting is going to put you back on the radar. If you just don't answer the phone or door they will give up. I wouldn't go back because they are controlling you. It will get to the point where they will only try to contact you when the CO is in town, during the Memorial season and the DC.

I won't even answer the phone if I know it is one of them nor will I return their phone calls. I am not sure where you are in your journey but they will get the point real quick when you don't return their calls. You don't owe them a thing.

My grandmother passed away at 4:55am

i'm sad.
she lived a long life, 90 years, and battled alzheimer's for the last 5 years of her life.

I am so sorry for your loss. It sounds like you have a lot of wonderful memories of her and that she lived a very full life. Alzheimer's is such a horrible illness and my heart goes out to your parents since they had to watch her go through it. Hang in there.

Going to Kingdom Hall for first time

have no fear, i have absolutely no interest in joining.
my goal is simply to better understand how to reach those who are on the inside, and i feel i could better do that by observing it.

by EastCoastMindFree ini have been on this site lurking for over 2 years and this is my first post, i feel so bottled with emotion that i have to let it out somehow so i do not have an emotional breakdown!
i was raised in the organization and am married with 2 children ages 4 and 2. my wife and i have been inactive for about 2 years and i have always had hard questions that were never answered growing up, such as blood policy and how david and his men were allowed to eat from the bread reserved for the high priests without death penalty since it was life or death.
carbon dating on human remains/tools that date back 30-40k years, far surpassing the 6k year man creation date, the double standards and very real "human" aspect on the organization and its decisions and history.

Welcome! I live on the east coast too. You are very fortunate that your wife is by your side and you escaped at a young age before your children are indoctrinated. You are doing the right thing by not going back. If you feel the need to have religion in your life do some research and choose one that isn't a cult or high control. The more you read you will realize that most of the main doctrines they teach are false. It takes awhile to get that "crap" out of your head but just keep reading and researching.

Every time I read a new post or article on this it makes me so sick to my stomach and I cry for these children. Why isn't this making the national news like the pedofile scandle in the Catholic Church? I know there are those working in this field to expose these creeps but you never hear about this on the major news channels. These are crimes against children and this religion turns a blind eye to this.

I don't remember because it was 1986 and there were over 400 of us at the time. I think it was so overwhelming at the time because it was so huge and I had a hard time paying attention. The speaker was not someone from our circuit so I have no idea who gave it. I do remember seeing my husband right before I went in.
